1. Who We Are
PlumbNow ("we", "us") is the data controller for personal data collected through the PlumbNow platform.
2. Data We Collect
Account data
Name, email address, phone number, and password (hashed) when you register.
Job and location data
Job descriptions, postcode and approximate location, and job status updates submitted when posting or claiming jobs.
Identity and compliance data (plumbers only)
Government-issued ID, Gas Safe registration number, public liability insurance certificates, and professional qualifications uploaded for verification.
Payment data
Payment is processed by Stripe. PlumbNow does not store full card numbers. We retain records of transactions and credit balances.
Usage data
IP addresses, device type, browser, pages visited, and actions taken on the platform for security and product improvement.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To operate the marketplace and match customers with plumbers
- To verify plumber identities, qualifications, and insurance
- To process payments and manage credit balances
- To send transactional emails (job alerts, confirmations, support)
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse
- To comply with our legal obligations
4. Legal Basis
We process your data on the basis of contractual necessity (to provide the service), legitimate interests (platform security and improvement), compliance with legal obligations, and — for marketing communications — your consent.
5. Data Sharing
We share data with Stripe for payment processing, cloud hosting providers (AWS), and email delivery services. We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
6. Retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active, plus 2 years after closure for legal and dispute purposes. Transaction records are retained for 7 years to comply with financial regulations. Identity documents are deleted within 30 days of account closure.
